Another anti-Israel terror attack shows the ever-increasing danger of pro-Hamas radicals

/

The horrific firebombing of peaceful Jews in Boulder, Colorado, by an illegal immigrant from Egypt is hardly a surprise as the legacy media continues to parrot Hamas propaganda and coddle foreigners bent on destroying Israel and Western civilization.

Two days ago in Boulder, Colorado, Mohammed Sabry Soliman, an illegal immigrant, used Molotov cocktails and a “homemade flamethrower” to viciously attack a group of Jewish people who had gathered to call attention to the hostages still held by Hamas.

Eight people were injured, including a woman who was set on fire and is now reported to be in critical condition.

The FBI has since declared Soliman’s actions a terrorist attack as he allegedly confessed that his purpose was to “kill all Zionist people.”

During Soliman’s initial interrogation, the FBI learned that Soliman had planned the event and targeted the group after reading about their weekly gathering online.

Each Sunday, members of the Boulder community hold a “Run for Their Lives” event on Pearl Street in which participants run or walk to remember the hostages taken by Hamas during its attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The group is a local chapter of a grassroots organization that holds events around the world calling for the release of the hostages.

During this weekend’s walk, Soliman threw Molotov cocktails into the crowd of people as he reportedly yelled, “Free Palestine!” He also used a “homemade flamethrower” to try to set people on fire. Soliman reportedly caught himself on fire with one of the Molotov cocktails, leading him to take off his shirt and a bulletproof vest.

The eight victims injured were between the ages of 52 and 88.

In an emotional social media post, Leo Terrell, senior counsel to the U.S. assistant attorney general for Civil Rights, noted that the oldest victim of the Boulder attack was a survivor of the Holocaust. “She endured the worst evil in human history,” he wrote. “She came to America seeking safety. And now, decades later, she’s victimized again by a terrorist screaming ‘Free Palestine.’”

On Monday, the Department of Justice filed an affidavit charging Soliman with a hate crime.

The affidavit alleges that after being arrested, Soliman stated that he had been planning the attack for over a year and was waiting until his daughter graduated before perpetrating it.

According to the affidavit, Soliman said that he “wanted to kill all Zionist people and wished they were all dead” and admitted that he would do it again.

He said he specifically targeted the “Zionist group” because he hated them and “needed to stop them from taking over ‘our land,’” which he defined as Palestine.

Soliman was captured on video repeating different anti-Israel slogans, including “end Zionist” and “How many children killed?”

The affidavit says that a plastic container holding 14 unlit Molotov cocktails was found near where he was arrested. A backpack weed sprayer filled with gasoline was also found near the container.

Later, it was revealed that Soliman is an Egyptian national and an illegal immigrant.

According to CNN, Soliman applied for asylum in the U.S. in 2005 but was denied. Then under the Biden administration, Soliman was granted a tourism visa and landed at Los Angeles International Airport in August 2022. His visa expired, but he stayed in the U.S. where he had filed for a work permit. Even though his visa had expired, he was granted the work permit, which lasted from March 2023 to March 2025.

Soliman did not leave, meaning he has once again overstayed his legal permission to be in the U.S.

Many national leaders condemned the attack, including President Donald Trump, who posted,

“Yesterday’s horrific attack in Boulder, Colorado, WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in the United States of America. He came in through Biden’s ridiculous Open Border Policy, which has hurt our Country so badly. He must go out under ‘TRUMP’ Policy. Acts of Terrorism will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. This is yet another example of why we must keep our Borders SECURE, and deport Illegal, Anti-American Radicals from our Homeland. My heart goes out to the victims of this terrible tragedy, and the Great People of Boulder, Colorado!”

The terror attack comes just one week after two Israeli diplomats were murdered on the street as they were leaving the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., by a gunman who yelled, “I did it for Palestine, I did it for Gaza.”

There has been a marked rise in violence against Israeli and Jewish people in the United States since Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7. Pro-Hamas and anti-Semitic riots and protests have occurred at universities, public events, and outside of government buildings, with many pro-Hamas rioters demanding the eradication of Israel and the destruction of the United States, amid the call to “globalize the intifada.”

The implications of this attack are numerous. The most obvious one is that, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio has accurately pointed out, foreign nationals calling for violence on American soil do not have a right to stay here, and policies that have allowed such people to enter our country and remain here are suicidal.

But let’s focus on the news media’s role in emboldening the anti-Israel, pro-Hamas mobs that are terrorizing American cities and Jewish communities.

Over the past year, legacy outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post and so many others, have downplayed and simultaneously encouraged the rise in anti-Semitism on college campuses and major cities — even as “protesters” were chasing down Jewish students, attacking businesses, vandalizing synagogues, and beating up civilians.

Since the October 7 attack, the mainstream media has done precious little to educate young Americans on the complicated history of Israel and the Palestinians.

They don’t tell the story of how nearly 70 Jewish civilians were massacred, homes set on fire, and synagogues desecrated by Palestinians in Hebron — almost two decades before the establishment of a Jewish state in the Middle East. They don’t explain that Palestinians have turned down offers for a two-state solution on not one but five different occasions. They don’t detail the numerous times Islamic terrorists hijacked planes, ships, and buses, kidnapped and killed hostages, and murdered thousands of Israelis and Westerners, including Americans, in suicide attacks. They don’t explain that after Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005, Hamas was elected to power and and instead of governing and improving life for Palestinians, they started building tunnels, launching rockets at Israel, and teaching Palestinian children to hate Jews.

Rather than provide real context, legacy media outlets follow the lead of social justice warriors and consciously choose to view the conflict through a single lens: oppressor vs. oppressed.

In this instance, Israel is the oppressor and Palestinians are the oppressed. The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) is bad and Hamas is good. Jewish grandmothers and Holocaust survivors who march so people will remember the hostages are causing pain while an illegal immigrant and Muslim jihadist throwing Molotov cocktails into a crowd is acting righteously.

Over the past two years, legacy media outlets have parroted the claim by Hamas and its proxies that Israel is intentionally and gleefully killing civilians and orchestrating a genocide. Only days into the war between Israel and Hamas, just after Hamas had raped and murdered Israeli citizens, including young children, the mainstream media breathlessly repeated Hamas propaganda that Israel had bombed a hospital.

That claim was false.

Did they feel chastened by such an elementary journalistic mistake? Did they course-correct in how they would source and report the war? No. The legacy media continues to slander Israel and promote Hamas propaganda to this day.

On Sunday, the Washington Post published a piece claiming that IDF soldiers had fired upon Gazan citizens who were trying reach a food distribution site, claiming they had killed 30 and wounded 170 more. The headline read, “Israeli troops kill over 30 at U.S. aid site in Gaza, health officials say”.

The problem? Israel didn’t shoot any civilians.

On Sunday night, the Post updated its headline to say, “More than 30 killed by gunfire near U.S. aid site in Gaza” — without any correction notice on the story.

As the media frequently does, the Washington Post repeated the report of Hamas officials without any evidence that Israel had actually committed the act.

Had they done any real reporting they might have included the IDF’s statement that it had fired warning shots at thieves about one kilometer away from the site several hours before distribution. They would have also noted that the Israelis had released drone footage of a masked gunman firing into a crowd that was receiving aid at another site in Khan Younis.

As the old saying goes, a lie travels halfway around the world before the truth gets its boots on. Post readers absorbed the falsehood and believed it, with commenters immediately and furiously accusing Israel of committing “genocide” and “war crimes.”

Under the weight of such propaganda and lies, it’s hardly a surprise that anti-Israel and antisemitic sentiment has hit an all-time high in America. It’s also not a surprise that pro-Hamas protesters have now escalated their actions from intimidating and assaulting Jews to rioting and occupying buildings to murdering people in the street and firebombing peaceful gatherings.

And yet the media continues to engage in their unprincipled “reporting.” After the Boulder attack, for example, CNN blasted the FBI as “juvenile” for classifying the firebombing of Jewish marchers as a “targeted terror attack” — despite the fact that there was readily available video of a man holding Molotov cocktails in both hands and screaming “Free Palestine!” and “We have to end Zionists!”

Left-wing violence against Jews is clearly on the rise in America, and the media continues to dutifully dish out the lies and propaganda fueling it. Clearly, the press has a critical role in a free society. Journalists have a right to report the news, but they also have a responsibility to do it truthfully, fairly, and ethically. It’s time they start.
